The Happy Conclusion

The Happy Conclusion is an English Country Dance. It was published by Walsh in 1715 in Twenty four new Country Dances for the Year 1715. It was interpreted by Andrew Shaw in 2017 and published in Elephants Stairs. Originally a Triple Minor this version is a proper Duple Minor dance. The minor set lasts 32 bars. It is in the key: G Major.

Walsh writes:

Note. Each strain twice.

The 1^st. cu. lead through the 2^d. cu. and go the outside below the 3^d. cu. and lead through the 3^d. cu. and go the outside of the 2^d. cu. into their own places again. the 2^d. cu. cast up and lead down between the 1^st. cu. and go on the outside below the 3^d. cu. and slip up the middle into their own places again then the 1^st. man change places with the 2^d. wo. and the 1^st. wo. with the 2^d. man, the 1^st. cu. cast up the 2^d. cu. lead down, and turn all four into your own places then right hands and left quite round, the 1^st. cu. turn both hands down the middle, and the 2^d. cu. cast up at the same time

John Walsh published the tune with the dance, The Happy Conclusion, and the music was synthesized using Colin Hume's software.

The animation plays at 100 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance will often be slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily (no music plays during this slow set). Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.

The dance contains the following figures: hand turn (allemande), cast, lead, hey, circular hey, (and probably others).
