In a snake pass you have two groups of dancers engaged in circular motion (circles or hands across most often) at either end of the set. The circles break and one dancer in each leads the others in a line which winds outside the other circle and into position.
Adrian Conrad devised several dances containing the snake pass in 1975, one of which is The Heights of Rechberg.
