A Trip to Marrow-Bone #2

A Trip to Marrow-Bone #2 is an English Country Dance. It was published by John Young (Playford family) (website) in 1718 in The Dancing Master, Vol. the Second, 3rd ed.. It was interpreted by Andrew Shaw in 2024 and published in The Irish Howle. Originally a Triple Minor this version is a proper 3 Couple Longways dance. In this dance the couples are permuted by: 231. Originally this was a single progression dance. The dance lasts 24 bars.

Two versions of this dance were published in The Dancing Master, this is the second one. Andrew Shaw says the first was originally published in Walsh's Twenty Four New Country Dances for the Year 1707.

John Young writes:

Note: Each Strain is to be play'd twice over.
The first Couple cast off, and lead thro' the third Couple And cast up at Top and lead thro' the second Couple Then the first Couple cross over and half Figure at Top, and then the whole Figure with the third Couple The Right and Left quite Round with the second Couple, and lead thro' the third Couple, and turn your Partner in the second Couple's Place

The animation plays at 120 counts per minute. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color.

The dance contains the following figures: hand turn (allemande), cast, lead, figure eight, double figure eight, hey, circular hey, lead and cast, cross go below, (and probably others).
